2018 Kingsley & Kate Tufts Poetry Awards Finalists
The 2018 Kingsley & Kate Tufts Poetry Awards judging panel — Don Share, Elena Karina Byrne, Terrance Hayes, Sandy Solomon, and Khadijah Queen — met this past weekend to conclude their finalist deliberations, and we are happy to announce the ten finalists for the 2018 Poetry Awards:
The Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award is given annually for a book by a poet in mid-career. Finalists for 2018 are:
- Kathy Fagan, Sycamore (Milkweed)
- Ishion Hutchinson, House of Lords and Commons (FSG)
- Paisley Rekdal, Imaginary Vessels (Copper Canyon Press)
- Patricia Smith, Incendiary Art: Poems (TriQuarterly Books/Northwestern UP)
- Monica Youn, Blackacre (Graywolf Press)
The Kate Tufts Discovery Award is given annually for a first book by a poet of genuine promise. Finalists for 2018 are:
- Ari Banias, Anybody (W.W. Norton)
- Donika Kelly, Bestiary (Graywolf Press)
- Layli Long Soldier, Whereas (Graywolf Press)
- Tommy Pico, IRL (Birds, LLC)
- Mai Der Vang, Afterland (Graywolf Press)
