Submissions of up to six unpublished, English-language-based poems composed in any poetic genre or form are welcome from poets actively enrolled in a graduate program anywhere in the world. We accept simultaneous submissions and we are open for submissions January 1 through August 31.

Graduate-student poets writing in a foreign language are welcome to submit, so long as the work is translated into English. We will happily give the translator credit.

We ask for first publishing rights, with rights reverting to the author upon publication. By submitting, you agree that your work may be used or archived on our website as well as in subsequent print or electronic anthologies, and that your work is original. As compensation for publication, authors receive one free copy of the print journal.

To ensure we have room to share as many voices as possible, we ask those whose work has been accepted to wait one full issue cycle (one year) before submitting to us again.

Send your poems as a Microsoft Word “.doc” or “.docx” file attachment to foothill@cgu.edu with “poetry submission” and your name in the subject line. In the body of the e-mail, please include your name, e-mail address, title(s) of poem(s), as well as the name of the university and program in which you are enrolled. Please allow up to three months for a response, though you will usually hear from us much sooner. We look forward to reading your work.
